What is a Digital Wallet?
DEFINITION: A digital wallet is a secure application used to store, manage and monitor digital assets or transactions.
Simply put: Most people associate a digital wallet with Apple Pay or Google Wallet. Salesforce uses the same idea—a central place to view and manage valuable digital resources—but instead of payment cards, Salesforce Digital Wallet helps organisations monitor their Agentforce Flex Credits and Data 360 consumption.
So, what is the Salesforce Digital Wallet?
For products enabled with Digital Wallet, your organisation can purchase consumption credits or data storage capacity. These credits or capacity are then tracked in your Digital Wallet, giving you a clear overview of how much you've used and how much is left. Consumption is measured in various ways and these are shown via cards.
How Do I Access Salesforce Digital Wallet?
Salesforce Digital Wallet is available from the App Launcher. Once opened, it provides a central view of consumption-based Salesforce services, including Agentforce Flex Credits and Data 360 usage.

From Digital Wallet, administrators can review:
- Agentforce Flex Credit consumption
- Data 360 consumption
- Consumption Cards
- Usage trends over time
- Service-specific consumption metrics
If Digital Wallet isn't available, check that your Salesforce purchase of Data 360 / Agentforce has been completed, and that your organisation's consultants has enabled and configured the relevant AI capabilities.
Why Organisations Need this Digital Wallet
Salesforce's shift toward consumption-based pricing means organisations now need much greater visibility into platform usage. It means:
- More Flexibility: Pay only for what your business needs.
- Better Budgeting: Avoid overspending with real-time tracking.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Detect usage patterns and optimise your contracts accordingly.
Our Data Cloud Experience
CloudAnalysts' architects has worked with Data Cloud since its earliest releases. CloudAnalysts consultants were part of one of the first Data Cloud One implementations in the United States, working as Data Cloud Architect alongside the Salesforce US office, a third-party US Salesforce consultancy and the client team. That practical experience gave us valuable insight into designing scalable multi-org customer data platforms and understanding how consumption behaves in real enterprise environments.
How Salesforce Digital Wallet Tracks Agentforce Flex Credits - 'how it works'

Agentforce introduces consumption-based AI licensing through Flex Credits. As AI agents research customers, generate responses and automate business processes, they may consume Flex Credits.
Salesforce Digital Wallet gives administrators visibility into this usage so they can forecast demand, identify trends and support budgeting.
Every time an AI agent performs work—whether that's researching a customer, generating a response, updating records or carrying out an autonomous business process—it may consume Flex Credits. Organisations adopting Agentforce at scale therefore need visibility into both AI activity and associated consumption.
Salesforce is also introducing packaged AI agents such as Agentforce Help Agent, demonstrating how enterprise AI is moving beyond custom-built agents towards ready-to-deploy business capabilities. As organisations deploy more of these services, understanding how consumption is measured and monitored becomes increasingly important.
Salesforce Digital Wallet brings these together in a single place. Administrators can monitor overall consumption, identify trends over time and understand where credits are being used across their Salesforce environment.
This visibility helps organisations:
- forecast future AI costs more accurately
- identify unexpected spikes in consumption
- understand which business processes generate the highest AI usage
- support budgeting as Agentforce adoption grows.
As more departments begin using AI agents, regular monitoring becomes an important part of Salesforce governance rather than simply a finance exercise.
Key Features of the Salesforce Digital Wallet
1. Pool Consumption Across Contracts
If your organisation has multiple contracts for the same Salesforce product, Digital Wallet automatically pools usage. This ensures that you maximise entitlements across all active contracts—no wasted credits or storage!
2. Real-Time Usage Monitoring
Easily track overall product usage with a clear breakdown of:
- Total usage vs. remaining credits or capacity
- Usage trends over time
- Contract expiration and renewal insights
3. Consumption Trend Analysis
CRM and IT Leaders need predictable spending and data-driven insights. Digital Wallet provides easy-to-read charts showing how your org is consuming Salesforce products over time. With this, you can:
- Identify peak usage periods
- Plan contract renewals efficiently
- Avoid surprise overages
Agentforce Flex Credits and Data Cloud Consumption
To fully optimise your Salesforce investments, it's essential to understand how consumption works for both Salesforce Agentforce and Data 360. Each product has its own pricing and usage structure, and Digital Wallet helps you manage these effectively. By keeping track of usage and understanding consumption trends, you can make better decisions about how to allocate your resources.

How Do I Track Agentforce Flex Credit Consumption?
As organisations deploy more AI agents, monitoring Flex Credit consumption becomes an important part of Salesforce administration.
Digital Wallet provides near real-time visibility into how Agentforce is consuming Flex Credits, allowing administrators to understand usage patterns before costs become difficult to manage.
Rather than checking consumption only at month end, we recommend monitoring Flex Credits throughout the implementation, particularly during testing and the first few weeks after deployment. This makes it much easier to identify unexpected spikes in usage, optimise prompts and refine AI workflows before they become expensive.
What Are Consumption Cards in Salesforce?
Consumption Cards are dashboard components within Salesforce Digital Wallet that summarise how usage-based services are consuming resources.
Depending on your Salesforce products, Consumption Cards may display information such as:
- Agentforce Flex Credit consumption
- Data 360 usage
- Historical consumption trends
- Remaining allowances
- Service-specific usage metrics
They provide administrators with a quick overview of consumption without needing to analyse detailed reports.
Digital Wallet Consumption Calculations
Depending on what’s included in your Digital Wallet, your company can either get a set amount of usage credits (like 500 SMS messages per month) or a fixed capacity (like 1 GB of file storage). The system automatically tracks how much you use and deducts it from your balance using a pre-set formula based on your contract. This helps you stay on top of your usage and ensures you’re getting the most out of your Salesforce investment.
How to Access Salesforce Digital Wallet
As a user, you will be able access your Digital Wallet by searching for “Consumption Cards” in the App Launcher (those 9 dots in the top left corner of every Salesforce screen) or through the 'Your Account' app. You'll find a tile just for consumption.
For your company to be able to use Digital Wallet, you will need:
- Active contracts for a Digital Wallet-enabled product. Expect more Salesforce consumption-based products to be coming out.
- Permissions: enable the “View Consumption Cards” permission in Salesforce Setup.
Your administrator or consultant will configure this for you.
Salesforce Digital Wallet with Consumption Cards
For example, in this Digital Wallet you see two cards belonging to Data Cloud. The cards you will see in your own wallet are of course depending on what you have access to. If that is Agentforce, you will also see cards for Einstein Requests and Conversations.

Monthly Account Summary Emails
On the 10th of every month, Salesforce sends a Monthly Account Summary to your billing contact, summarising the previous month’s consumption. This helps Growth Leaders stay informed about data usage and plan ahead.
Note: These summaries are not invoices. If your organisation exceeds the purchased allowance, an official invoice will be issued.
As well as monthly account summaries, you can set up Digital Wallet’s Consumption Threshold Alerts via a Salesforce flow to get usage notification when your org’s usage exceeds specified thresholds.
Example of a data consumption monthly overview
Here you can see the total consumption of credits, as well as distribution of usage types: Accelerated queries, batch data pipeline, batch profile unification, data queries, standard queries, streaming data pipeline, streaming calculated insights, real-time profile API, streaming actions, inferences, data share or rows shared, data federation or sharing rows accessed.
Technologies such as Prompt Builder, Atlas and Agentforce all contribute towards modern AI-powered Salesforce implementations.
Data Cloud One Makes Consumption Management Even More Important
Many larger organisations now operate multiple Salesforce orgs across countries, brands or business units. Data Cloud One allows these organisations to connect multiple Salesforce orgs to a shared Data Cloud environment, creating a single customer data foundation while avoiding duplicated data management.
This delivers considerable business benefits, but it also means consumption is no longer generated from a single Salesforce org. Multiple teams, departments and business units may all contribute to overall usage.
Digital Wallet therefore becomes an essential governance tool for organisations adopting Data Cloud One. It provides the visibility needed to understand overall platform consumption while supporting budgeting and capacity planning across the wider Salesforce landscape.
As mentioned before, at CloudAnalysts, we have practical experience with this architecture. We were part of one of the very earliest Data Cloud One implementations in the United States.
7 Ways to Reduce Agentforce and Data Cloud Consumption
Keeping an eye on Digital Wallet is only the first step. Many organisations can significantly reduce consumption through good architecture and operational practices.
1. Review data ingestion schedules
Not every source system needs to synchronise continuously. Reducing unnecessary refreshes can lower processing volumes while still providing the business with timely information.
2. Archive data that is no longer actively used
Customer data grows quickly. Archiving historical records that no longer support reporting, segmentation or AI can reduce ongoing processing requirements.
3. Optimise Identity Resolution
Identity Resolution is one of Data Cloud's most valuable capabilities, but matching more records than necessary or running frequent recalculations may increase consumption. Review matching rules regularly as your data evolves.
4. Schedule Calculated Insights appropriately
Calculated Insights provide powerful analytics but do not always need to run continuously. Running calculations only when business users need refreshed information helps avoid unnecessary processing.
5. Design efficient Agentforce automations
AI agents should focus on activities that genuinely add business value. Reviewing prompts, removing redundant actions and refining workflows can improve both user experience and credit consumption.
6. Monitor sandbox and production environments separately
Development and testing can generate significant usage if left unmanaged. Monitoring each environment independently makes unexpected consumption easier to identify.
7. Review Digital Wallet regularly
Digital Wallet is most valuable when it becomes part of ongoing platform governance rather than something only reviewed when invoices arrive. Regular monitoring helps identify trends before they become costly surprises.
If your Digital Wallet shows higher-than-expected consumption, our CRM Strategy Consulting or AI & Data Cloud Services can help identify opportunities to optimise your Salesforce architecture, data model and AI processes before costs escalate.
