Here are 7 Salesforce Spring ’20 Release Notes Highlights – key helpful new features amongst others in a fully-packed new software release.
NEWSFLASH :: LATEST RELEASE NOTES: Highlights Salesforce Release Notes Summer 20 -Starting with Pardot
I think you will all be really excited about 1-3, as these were considered must-haves by many users, admins and consultants alike. 4-6 are super time savers for users, and particularly Admins, while 7 is a star for Admins/ consultants who help companies get started with Salesforce.
1. Assign Tasks to a Queue
This has been a much asked for feature, including by me! With this features, a user can set a task to a queue and then anyone in the team can take ownership of those tasks from the queue’s list view.
This is perfect to share work with delegates, or junior staff. I’m thinking of a sales team where the Inside Sales rep can support the Account Manager in this way. It also works to boost true team performance; I’m thinking of the nurses office where many tasks are shared.
Before, tasks could be send to a group of people, but then everyone would get the same task. Useful, up to a point. This assignment to a queue is a superior way of dealing with it.
An admin can set up the queues ahead of time, so that users can choose them.
Benefit: overall, a great way to share work efficiently
2. Salesforce Data Mask for Sandboxes
If you were worried that your external developers could see your data, worry no more: Salesforce just released a Data Mask.
How-to: It’s a managed packaged you install in a production org. Once installed, you can run the masking process from the sandboxes associated with that production org.
Benefits: Masks some or all of your sensitive data, as there are different levels. Unmasking is not possible; it’s a set-and-forget feature. Data security first.
3. Combine Duplicate Cases with Case Merge
One of those features that you expected was already there, but wasn’t. Now combining duplicate cases is easy. You have 2 options: Depending on your settings, the duplicated cases are either added to the ‘Merged Cases’-related list or soft deleted (and stay 15 days in the recycling bin — just in case you need them again.)
How-to: As an admin, go to Setup > select Case Merge > Enable Case Merge > specify what happens to duplicate cases after your agents merge them. Be sure to adjust CRUD permissions, so Agents can delete (to merge) cases as needed.
Benefits: provide better service with clear communication; and clear clutter in your Service Cloud org.
4. Page Improvement Tips

A new feature called ‘Guidance for App Builder’ provides handy tips for you on how to improve performance, usability, and address structural issues when you design a Salesforce lightning page.
How-to: nothing to do, it’s automatically there, but you can Mute it.
Benefits: improved performance, usability and structure.
5. Clone with Related
‘Clone with Related’ is an action that sits as a button on top of your page in Opportunities or Campaigns and lets you clone them, along with all their related records.
For an Opportunity, you get to clone contact roles, products, or product (line item) schedules along with an opportunity. This could be great for e.g. renewing a subscription.
For a campaign, you get to duplicate it along with all its member statuses.
How-to: An Admin must go to Setup > Object Manager > Opportunity (or Campaign-) object > Select Page Layout > Add the ‘Clone with Related’- action to the layout > Save.
An admin must also ensure that users have Create-permission on Opportunities and Campaigns; and Read-access to the record they want to clone.
Benefits: a productivity booster for Sales and Marketing users.
6. Pre-populated Records
You can now create custom buttons and links that pass default field values to a new record. (Note: only for default fields, not custom fields)
How-to: An admin need it to apply a simple formula, similar to this one:
/lightning/o/Account/new?defaultFieldValues=
Name={!URLENCODE(Account.Name)},
OwnerId={!Account.OwnerId},
AccountNumber={!Account.AccountNumber},
NumberOfEmployees=35000,
CustomCheckbox__c={!IF(Account.SomeCheckbox__c, true, false)}
Benefit: saves time when creating new records.
6. Group Permission Sets
And something exclusively for Admins (and Consultants): Group Permission Sets Based on User Job Function for Easier Assignment. Now you can assign users a single permission set group instead of multiple permission sets.
How-to: Admins should go to Setup, type Permissions, click on Group permission sets, and set new Group permission, to included combinations of other permission sets.
Benefits: Permission set groups combine selected permission sets to provide all the permissions that users need for their job. Saves an Admin time and makes permission assignment more organised and aligned with the business organisation.
